This is site is part of an ongoing class assignment for course SOC 495 offered through DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. It is desgined to provide a "sociocultural analysis of celebrity" by examing discourse surrounding a "mega-celebrity" and their impact on popular culture.
On this home page, I'll analyze the "mega-celebrity " of sports superstar Michael Jordan.This site wil look to explore the structures that comprise Jordan's fame. Through anaysis of the transaction of three elements outlined in this course (a CELEBRITY, FANS and MASS MEDIA), I will explore how and why Michael Jordan is such a celebrated part of our society.
